theory, practical, footdrill horrors
ok, the final lap for many NCWO members. your promotion and your getting the well-made certificate depends on this final practice on friday. i know some of you only need to pass 1 or 2 more segments, and you’ll be in the safe zone. do your best! and let me pass you by giving me a good attempt. it’d be such a pity if you don’t make it by friday!
i’m quite impressed with some of the recruits’ improvements. from the practical testing, i know that they have been putting in effort to play properly and i have to say that the trumpets have really improved a lot. pitching is so much more stable than before, but volume still needs work, as most of my recruits cannot project their sounds! what a pity. i see many players with potential. but i shouldn’t be discouraged at this point because i’m sure we’ll have time to make it work!
2 pieces to conduct on saturday’s investiture. hope all goes well! i better have a good rehearsal with them on friday. so many things to do!
was really really zombified after NTUSB practice today! even though i only managed to turn up in the middle of their practice, i guess i gave the remainder of the practice the remainder of my focus and energy. was totally worn out after playing pirates of the carribean! how to sight read when your mind is already half dead? haha. i have no idea how i got through the practice.
InClarion Clarinet Choir is invited to perform at the Esplanade Concert Hall? wow… cool! one more Esplanade performance for me. but i wonder what pieces are in store for us… and who’s gonna conduct the clarinet choir… 2nd september… i think i can cope with about 4 tuesday evening practices! on top of NUSWS on thursdays, NTUSB on mondays, wednesdays and saturdays, and MWO on sundays. what a ‘band’-it life!
i shall remember to bring a good jacket to band practices… Mr Oura must be an eskimo; don’t understand how he can still perspire in that freezing NTUSB bandroom…
